Health care reform debate continues; take action today!

Congress returns from its month-long recess after Labor Day, following a month where legislators worked to gain citizens’ input on health care reform proposals.  Efforts to forge consensus on health care reform will continue as the Senate Finance Committee works to put forth a reform proposal by the September 15 deadline set by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV).  President Barack Obama will renew his efforts to secure support for reforms by addressing a joint session of Congress on Sept. 9 to outline areas of compromise.

In Virginia, legislators will be wrapping up their town halls with constituents.  Sen. Mark Warner is holding a town hall Thursday evening in Fredericksburg.  Rep. Randy Forbes has a tele-town hall scheduled for Sept. 8.  Rep. Bob Goodlatte has town halls scheduled for Sept. 5 in Bridgewater and Sept. 12 in Lynchburg.  For more details on these events, visit our Web page.
