MSV seeks physician candidates for gubernatorial appointment

The Medical Society of Virginia (MSV) is seeking candidates for several appointment opportunities.  To qualify, you must be an MSV member, be willing to serve a multi-year term, and meet the qualifications of the nomination.  Please note that while MSV is asked to submit nominees for consideration, appointment is at the Governor’s discretion.

  • Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth Board of Trustees (formerly known as Virginia Tobacco Settlement Foundation)
    • Number of Vacancies: Two
    • Qualifications: Cardiologist or Pediatrician

Formerly known as the Virginia Tobacco Settlement Foundation, the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth was established by the Virginia General Assembly to lead statewide efforts to reduce and prevent youth tobacco use and childhood obesity.

  • Virginia Workforce Council
    • Number of Vacancies: One
    • Qualifications: Representative of Health Care Employer

The Virginia Workforce Council (VWC) is a business-led board that acts as the principal advisor to the Governor and provides strategic leadership to the state regarding the workforce development system and its efforts to create a strong workforce aligned with employer needs. The VWC is also charged with serving as the State Board for the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA), setting policy and standards for the local Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs) and One Stop Centers and recommending specific uses for the WIA statewide discretionary funds.
